Bear 48 Corphas a purpose: To bring innovative products to the market that help solve problems related to safety, comfort and tools for the professional and handyperson! The company’s founder and President Martin Rizzo is a distinctive character of old school principals and has a zest for the creative and selling products that he believes in. Martin lamented on the idea to perfect a weld shield and was seeking some help and advice. Imagine if you could weld without a helmet or even cut your helmet time in half? One day Martin bumped into an old friend of his that he knew he could confide in and help him with his quest. His friend, the infamous John Picone a certifiable inventor who notably invented the World’s First Powered Adjustable Wrench. John saw that Martin’s idea had some merits and took on the challenge and agreed to help Martin with his weld shield. Martin and John have been friends since high school and they were both happy to meet up again.
Martin worked many years in construction and masonry for a living. Martin knew all about the discomfort and pain that goes along with being on your knees most of the time. Martin wore traditional kneepads with straps and always wore them for safety and protection because there was nothing better. When Martin met up with John he saw that John also was working on a new project, “Strapless Knee Pads”. Martin loved the idea and anything that could save him from the pinch and chaffing on the back of the knee was welcomed! So John helped Martin with his weld shield and Martin helped John with testing the knee pads. After a few years of trial an error, vigourous testing and persistence both the Weld Shield and Strapless Knee Pads evolved. Today Martin and his Bear 48 Corp distribute MAGNEE Strapless Knee Pads and manufacture and sell the MHR Weld Shield.

John’s first success with his patented invention was winning the Grand Prize for an Invention Contest sponsored by Hammacher Schlemmer for the “World’s First Powered Adjustable Wrench” and sold his wrench through Hammacher Schlemmer’s catalog and stores under the brand name Picone “Durawrench”.
The powered wrench features a motor and push-button that opens and closes the jaws for automatic adjustment and sizing. Other successes came with licensing his patents under the product name “Zipwrench” endorsed by Billy Mays and sold by Ontel Products and QVC. The latest spin-off the “Autowrench” manufactured by Black & Decker was sold in Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Ace Hardware, Walmart and all over the world.
The “Magnee Strapless Knee Pads” Story
Out of necessity MAGNEE Strapless Magnetic Attaching Knee Pads where invented when construction professional Joe Pardillo and certifiable inventor John Picone came together to solve the problem of uncomfortable kneepad straps. Joe and John have been friends since high school and they have kept in touch ever since.
Joe worked many years in construction and laying down tile for a living. Joe knew all about the discomfort and pain that goes along with wearing traditional kneepads with straps but he always wore them for safety and protection because there was nothing better.
One day Joe saw a co-worker laying down some tile and kneeling on a rubber mat. He told Joe that he could not use kneepads anymore because of poor circulation in his legs and he could not suffer the pain of straps anymore. The problem with the rubber mat was every time the co- worker had to move to lay down another tile he had to pick up the mat and move the mat with him. At that time, Joe thought wouldn’t it be nice if the rubber mat could stay with your body and move with you. But how? Joe figured it out. By placing a pad inside the pant leg atop the knee area and placing a matching pad outside the pant leg and then connecting them to each other with powerful rare earth magnets between the pant material Joe created “The World’s First Strapless Magnetic Attaching Kneepads.” During that time, Joe approached John with a prototype and the idea that would eliminate the need for uncomfortable straps on kneepads forever! “I remember the first time Joe showed me his prototype for his strapless kneepads, John said. I thought it was very clever and useful and a great problem solver. I loved it. John and I partnered up, secured some patents. Today we are bringing Magnee Knee Pads to the world and with the help of Martin and Bear 48 Corp!
